Willaston in the Past aims to gather, archive, record and disseminate information about our village in the past.

Events coming up

General Meeting

Thursday 17th September at 7pm at Willaston Methodist Chapel. We will talk about the history of Willaston Mill, followed by refreshments. Everyone is welcome.

Guided Walks

As part of Heritage History Week, we are offering two guided walks in the village:

Tuesday 15th September – 2pm. Meet at Hadlow Road Station and walk to Mellock Lane, learning about the history of the Hooton to Parkgate railway line. There will be a lift back to Willaston at the end of the walk. In addition, the Hadlow Road Station ticket office will be open so that people can have a look behind the scenes from 1pm and a chance to buy our publications.
Friday 18th September – 11am. Meet at Christ Church for a tour of the graveyard and to learn more about some of the people who have been buried there and the influence they have had on our village.

Our walks are free but places are limited so booking in advance is essential. Please text Sarah on 07948 604568 to book your place. Please note that both walks are on uneven ground.

A History of Willaston and its Inhabitants - covering the period from William the Conqueror to Queen Elizabeth 1 is also available for £5.

Cards and Tea Towels for Sale

We are delighted to offer a range of cards and tea towels for sale. These feature the pictures drawn by A.D Moreton in the book All About Willaston written by the British Legion, Willaston Branch in 1945. The tea towels include information from the time about the village.

There are five pictures featuring:

The Old Hall

May 2026

We have added maps, including Bryants map of 1831 and four maps from the Conservation Stage 11 Report into Willaston. These can be seen here.
We have added a memoire from JGV Burns, who lived in Whitegates and was a pilot in WW2. This can be seen here.

February 2026

We have added histories of Hawthorn School in Mill Lane and Station Garage in Hadlow Road, along with a history of Hadlow Green WI. These can be seen here.
We have added memories of boys travelling on the Hooton to West Kirby line, provided by the Burton and Neston History Society. These can be seen here.
